ADHD & Sensory Care

What this is

Beyond Behavior Management

When a child struggles with focus, hyperactivity, or sensory overload, it's often a sign of a 'noisy' nervous system — one that is stuck processing too much input with too little ability to filter and regulate. We don't try to force better behavior through discipline or medication; we help calm the internal neurological storm so the brain can organize itself and the child can regulate naturally. By addressing the root cause — nervous system dysfunction — rather than just managing symptoms, we help kids unlock their full potential.

What we help with

The signals we hear most often.

These are the things that bring families to ADHD & Sensory Care. None of them are the actual problem — they're just the most visible symptoms of an underlying nervous-system pattern.

Inability to Focus

Brain-body disconnection makes it incredibly difficult for a child to filter out distractions and sustain attention on a single task. When the nervous system is overwhelmed, the brain literally cannot prioritize incoming information, leaving the child scattered and frustrated.

Sensory Meltdowns

Clothing textures, loud noises, bright lights, or unexpected transitions can trigger intense, overwhelming reactions that seem disproportionate to the situation. These meltdowns are not behavioral choices — they are a nervous system that has exceeded its capacity to process sensory input.

Restlessness

A sympathetic nervous system stuck in overdrive means the body literally cannot sit still, no matter how much the child wants to comply. This constant fidgeting and need to move is the nervous system's attempt to self-regulate and discharge the excess energy it cannot process.

Emotional Volatility

Zero-to-sixty emotional reactions to small triggers — explosive anger, inconsolable tears, or intense frustration over minor events — indicate a nervous system that cannot regulate its response proportionally. When the 'brake pedal' of the nervous system isn't working, every emotion hits at full force.

By the numbers

94%

of patients in our adhd & sensory care program complete the corrective phase of their care plan — meaning the change shows up in the data, not just on the table.

How we approach it

The Vagus Nerve Connection

We focus on the vagus nerve — the body's master 'brake pedal' and the primary pathway of the parasympathetic nervous system. By removing subluxations and interference in the upper cervical spine, Dr. Colton O'Brien helps activate this critical calming pathway, allowing the brain to shift out of constant fight-or-flight mode and into a state where it can focus, process, and regulate. We use INSiGHT scanning to objectively measure your child's nervous system state, tracking their progress from stressed and reactive to calm and adaptable.

“The body knows what to do. We just clear the way and trust the wisdom inside.”

What changes

The benefits people notice first.

Improved Focus

Better brain-body communication leads to longer attention spans and improved ability to complete tasks at school and home. When the nervous system is no longer in overdrive, the brain has the bandwidth to filter distractions and concentrate on what matters.

Emotional Regulation

Fewer meltdowns, less explosive reactions, and better ability to handle frustration and disappointment. As the vagus nerve begins functioning properly, children develop the internal capacity to manage their emotions rather than being overwhelmed by them.

Better Sleep

Calming the sympathetic nervous system allows the body to transition into deep, restorative sleep more easily. Many parents report that their children fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up more refreshed after beginning care.

Social Connection

A calmer, more regulated child is better able to read social cues, interact with peers, and participate in group activities. When the nervous system is no longer consumed by internal chaos, kids can be present and engaged in their relationships and surroundings.

The teacher asked what changed. My son is sitting still, finishing his work, and actually happy going to school. Chiropractic gave us our boy back.

Your path

Three steps to lasting wellness.

Every adhd & sensory care care plan walks the same arc. The visit length, frequency, and specific protocols vary — the spine of the plan does not.

  1. 1

    Consult & scan

We start with a conversation and three INSiGHT scans to see exactly what's going on in your nervous system. No guessing, no gut-check — just data.

  2. 2

    Custom care plan

We build a plan tailored to your nervous system's specific needs, your goals, and your stage of life. You see the recommendation before you commit to anything.

  3. 3

    Gentle adjustments

Specific, gentle corrections to clear the interference and let your body do what it was designed to do — heal. Re-scanned at the end of each phase so you can see the change.

Before you book

Common questions about ADHD & Sensory Care.

Do you cure ADHD?

We don't 'cure' conditions. We improve the function of the nervous system by removing interference. When the brain can process and filter information correctly, the symptoms commonly associated with ADHD — inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity — often diminish significantly.

Is it medication-free?

Yes. Our approach is 100% natural and focuses on the body's internal ability to regulate itself. We are not anti-medication, but many families find that improving nervous system function reduces or eliminates the need for pharmaceutical intervention.

How long before we see changes?

Every child is different. Some parents notice improvements in sleep, mood, or behavior within the first few weeks. Others with more deeply entrenched patterns may take longer. We use INSiGHT re-scans to objectively track progress so you can see measurable changes even before behavioral shifts are obvious.

Can my child continue their other therapies while receiving chiropractic care?

Absolutely. Chiropractic works beautifully alongside occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and other interventions. In fact, many therapists report that their patients progress faster when their nervous system is functioning better through chiropractic care.

What's the connection between the spine and ADHD/sensory issues?

The spine houses and protects the spinal cord, which is the main highway between the brain and body. When vertebrae in the upper neck are misaligned, they can interfere with the vagus nerve and brainstem function, affecting the brain's ability to regulate attention, sensory input, and emotional responses.

My child has been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. Can you help?

Many children with sensory processing challenges have significant nervous system interference that makes it difficult for the brain to accurately interpret and respond to sensory input. By clearing this interference through gentle adjustments, we help the nervous system process information more efficiently, often reducing sensory sensitivities and meltdowns.
